Red Spruce’s Breeding Protocol

Responsible breeding is our highest demand. We are all about the health and well-being of our dogs. We plan every litter very carefully and select Dam and Sire with a balance between good pedigree/genetics and clear health. We do not carry the dilute gene in any of our lines.

Exceptional trainability and temperament make our puppies the perfect dogs for any scenario. Our dogs love to train and always put 110% ambition into pleasing the handler. Their genetics gives them a natural impulse to mark and line, with high drive and a good nose to deliver exceptional performance. 

Dedicated and passion-driven we are devoted to producing healthy and purebred Labrador Retrievers for family and sports enthusiasts. Our Labradors are home-raised and have a calm and loving temperament. They are our family, always come first, and we expect the same from the homes our puppies go to.

WHAT YOU GET

Your puppy will be

- dewormed 4-times
- receive its 1st set of vaccines at 7-8 weeks old
- vet-checked and provided with a Nova Scotia Health Certificate
- microchipped
- CKC registered
- through early neurological stimulation and early sound introduction
- playing on stimulating playgrounds
- starting basic obedience at 7 weeks of age
- introduced to feathers/ bird wings
- eating Orijen puppy large breed dog food, and will get sent home with a small bag of it
- all puppies will go home with a 1-month trial of Trupanion Pet Insurance, which you can decide to sign up for at the end of that period.

Red Spruce Retriever provides the following guarantee on each puppy sold up to 24 months of age:

1. To be of sound temperament upon departure from our home.
2. Free of hereditary eye cataracts
3. Free of congenital heart disease
4. Free of hip/elbow dysplasia

We offer Lifetime Breeder Support.

Non-Breeding contract
All puppies are sold on a CKC non-breeding contract. Breeding rights may be negotiated on a case by case basis, please contact us for further inquiry.

COSTS & PROCEDURE

We require a non-refundable deposit of $200 to reserve your position on the waitlist until a puppy of your desired color and gender is born from your selected litter. This deposit will be refunded only if the puppy matching your gender/color/litter preference is not born; however, it can be transferred to another litter if you choose to do so.
Once the puppies have been born and your puppy preference is available, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your puppy. The remaining amount of the puppy's total cost must be paid by or on the day you pick up your puppy. ​The final pick will be on pick-up day when the puppies are 8 weeks old. We will schedule a specific time for each puppy buyer to choose their puppy. Puppy pick order is determined by us. If you can not make it to the set time slot, you will lose your spot to the last available puppy. An exception can be made if you live outside of the Maritimes. In that case, we can arrange a virtual pick to secure your pup. The total cost of your Red Spruce puppy is $2500 + HST.
